Purpose of the Fund

The DCLG Efficiency Challenge Fund will provide financial assistance towards the set up costs of new housing procurement consortia. Setting up a consortium has costs which may not be paid back in efficiency gains until after perhaps 2 years. So the Fund aims at providing some early support.

The financial assistance is in the form of grants for social landlords who want to form consortia.

The grants typically range from £100,000 to £300,000 depending upon the phase of consortium formation and their specific circumstances.
